Rossville School Board Approves Personnel Changes, Policy Updates
The Rossville Consolidated School District Board of Education addressed personnel changes, policy updates, and several operational matters during its regular meeting held on March 3 at 7:00 p.m.
During the meeting, board members approved minutes, claims, and payroll from the Feb. 3 regular session after reviewing the materials provided in advance. The motion passed unanimously with board members Joe Hufford, Brent Michael, Nathan McCullough, Jentry Pendleton, and Nathan Root voting in favor.
Several personnel changes were considered and approved by the board. Among the resignations accepted was that of Rossville Middle/Senior High School art teacher Chloe Weaver, who will step down at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. Rochelle Scally also submitted a resignation after temporarily covering a teacher’s leave in March. In addition, Judy Homco resigned as girls' junior varsity and varsity tennis coach, effective immediately, and Sierra Hall resigned from her position as a homebound teacher, effective Feb. 6.
The board also approved multiple appointments and recommendations. Megan Britt was approved retroactively to provide homebound instruction to a Rossville Middle/High School student for one hour on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 9, at a rate of $34.24 per hour. Extended school year services of up to three hours per week from June 1 through July 31 were also approved for a student as outlined in the student’s Individualized Education Program. William Robbins was approved as a substitute teacher for the district.
Athletic coaching recommendations for the spring 2026 season were also approved. Will Robbins will serve as varsity head coach for girls’ tennis, with Judy Homco and Nate Burkle assisting as volunteer coaches. Chris Gorbett was named varsity head coach for softball, assisted by Keith Woollen, while Kevin Woollen will serve as junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant. Sarah Martin will assist as a volunteer. For baseball, Brad Scott was approved as varsity head coach with Todd Dillingham as assistant coach, Evan Hall as junior varsity head coach, and several volunteer assistants, including Matt Britt, Quentin Smith, and Matt Homco. Kaleb Harness will lead the boys' golf program as varsity head coach, with Blake Miller serving as a volunteer assistant.
Board members also reviewed and approved several policy updates as part of the district’s ongoing work with the Indiana School Boards Association to maintain current and relevant governance policies. First reading items included student residence verification and revisions to the field trip policy related to educational activities. Policies receiving second reading approval included revisions to procedures addressing board vacancies, use of seclusion and restraint, and updates concerning social media use by board members, child abuse and neglect reporting, prepayment of invoices and claims, and fixed asset inventory procedures.
Additional business included approval of a modification to the district’s summer childcare program contract. The updated agreement adds a part-time option allowing families to enroll children for up to three days per week at a cost of $115 per week. The board also approved awarding six $500 Moore Scholarships and six $1,000 Luella V. Davis and Everett D. Davis Trust Scholarships to members of the Rossville High School Class of 2026, with recipients to be selected by the scholarship committee.
Trustees further approved the declaration of several pieces of outdated or unused district equipment as surplus or obsolete. These items will be disposed of in accordance with Indiana law.
The board also received informational reports highlighting recent professional development and student activities. Staff members attended a 504 compliance training in Lafayette and participated in a school visit to North White schools. Upcoming learning opportunities include a program at Indiana University Bloomington that brings the Declaration of Independence to life. Student field trip reports included multiple Future Farmers of America events such as the State Milk Quality and Production Contest at Purdue University, the Leadership Invitational in Lebanon, the Honor Roll Trip to Fair Oaks, and the Soils Award Luncheon in Frankfort.
Following the completion of the evening’s agenda, the board adjourned the meeting. The next regular meeting of the Rossville Consolidated School District Board of Education is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
